The scope of work for this project is the provision of construction activities for the basin cleanup at Flatrock, NL, as is more specifically described below and in the Drawings and Specifications, subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract. In general, the work under this contract consists of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following: .1 Dredging the existing basin down to -2.0m L.N.T. Note that large boulders and armour stone units are present in the dredge area and these boulders/armour units are to be removed. The boulders/armour units to be removed, may be as large as 15 tonnes in size. No dredging will be permitted from atop the existing wharf infrastructure. .2 Excavation and removal of all rock (less than 8 tonnes in size) from behind the existing seawall, down to the elevations shown on the drawings. All rock removed from behind the seawall is to be disposed of in the disposal area shown on the drawings. FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE Before submitting a bid, it is recommended that bidders visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense and schedule, to review and verify the form, nature and extent of the work, materials necessary for the completion of the works, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account of error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply. Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 29 – Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid. The Contractor must perform and complete the Work by eight (8) weeks completion.
