Basso/La Grange Reach Floodplain and Spawning Habitat Restoration Project

On May 29, 2026, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife issued Restoration Management Permit RMP-2026-0027-R4 to the Tuolumne River Trust, doing business as Yosemite Rivers Alliance. The Basso/La Grange Reach Floodplain and Spawning Habitat Restoration Project is located within the unincorporated community of La Grange in Stanislaus County, California, encompassing a 202-acre area along the lower Tuolumne River. The project is designated as a Qualifying Restoration Project under section 1671(d)(1) of the Fish and Game Code and is intended to restore the structural and functional integrity of aquatic, riparian, and upland habitats to provide substantial cumulative benefits to native fish, wildlife, and plants. The primary objective of the restoration is to benefit chinook salmon and steelhead/rainbow trout through habitat enhancement. The project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21080.56, with the Stanislaus County Parks and Recreation serving as the lead agency for the exemption determination. Administrative oversight is managed by Megan Rooney, an Environmental Scientist with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Region 4.
