REQUIREMENTS FOR PROCUREMENT
Unit of Issue is PG. PG = 004 33 Type II, shelf life
Battery Terminals shall be protected by noncorrosive insulated coverings to prevent damage and short circuiting.
UNIT PACK in accordance with MIL-STD-2073-1, Method 31, as follows: Place each battery within a polyethylene bag. Place the bagged battery within a close-fitting box conforming to PPP-B--566, ASTM D 4727/D4727M, type CF, class domestic, style optional or PPP-B-676.
INTERMEDIATE PACKING: Place the unit packed batteries within a close-fitting box conforming to a ASTM-D5118.
COMPLIANCE WITH TRANSPORTATION REGULATION: In addition to the packaging requirements, all batteries which are considered hazardous material and regulated for transportation must comply with the packaging requirements of the applicable hazardous regulation according to the applicable mode of transportation.
SPECIAL MARKING: In addition to any special marking the unit, intermediate and exterior container shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129. In addition the following marking shall be applied on the unit pack.
WARNING DO NOT CHARGE, SHORT CIRCUIT, INCINERATE, OR MUTILATE THIS BATTERY; OTHERWISE IT MAY VENT OR RUPTURE, RELEASING TOXIC MATERIALS. DO NOT OPEN SEALED BAG OR USE IF THIS BOX IS STAINED OR WET.
