AI Contract Overview
The contract pertains to the procurement of a sealed lead acid battery with a Type I shelf life of 12 months, non-extendable, classified as a commercial off-the-shelf item with available catalog data for evaluation of alternatives. The battery must comply with strict hazardous material standards, prohibiting intentional addition or direct contact of mercury or mercury-containing compounds, except where functionally necessary in batteries, fluorescent lights, instruments, sensors, controls, weapon systems, or specified chemical reagents. Portable fluorescent lamps and instruments containing mercury must be shockproof and include a secondary containment boundary as defined by NAVSEA 5100-003D. Sampling and inspection protocols adhere to MIL-STD-1916 or ASQ H1331 Table 1 with zero non-conformances required unless otherwise stated, and attributes are verified at specified levels with AQLs of 0.1, 1.0, and 4.0 for critical, major, and minor characteristics respectively. Packaging and marking must follow MIL-STD-2073-1E and MIL-STD-129, with special labeling indicating Type I shelf life, and palletization must meet DLA packaging requirements. The item, identified by NSN 6130-01-418-5230 and part numbers TI1000GPU-24 and SPSAV-2830GPU, is to be delivered in a single unit within 20 days FOB origin, with no quantity variance permitted. Inspection and acceptance occur at the destination, and shipping must be via the fastest traceable means, excluding parcel post. Delivery is directed to a specified New York address under a Defense Logistics Agency solicitation, with a required delivery date of July 30, 2026.
