AI Contract Overview
The contract specifies the procurement of sealed lead acid batteries at 12 volts, categorized as a critical application item with a Type I, non-extendable shelf life of 12 months, requiring at least 10 months of remaining life upon delivery. The batteries must conform to strict packaging, marking, and shipping requirements per MIL-STD-2073-1E and MIL-STD-129, including special labeling for shelf life and hazardous material handling under IP025 and SPE7L7-26-T-4407 Section B. They are classified as nonspillable under U.S. DOT regulations, exempting them from certain hazardous material shipping documentation and labeling as long as terminals are protected, packaging is robust, and each unit is clearly marked “NONSPILLABLE” or “NONSPILLABLE BATTERY.” The items are subject to zero-defect sampling per MIL-STD-1916 or comparable zero-based plans, with unspecified attributes treated as major. Mercury or mercury-containing compounds are prohibited except in functional applications like batteries, and portable devices containing mercury must include a secondary containment system per NAVSEA standards. Deliveries are FOB destination with no variance allowed, inspection and acceptance occur at the destination, and shipment must be made via traceable freight using VSM, avoiding parcel post. Two line items total four units, with delivery due within 20 days of contract award, and the original required delivery date is July 7, 2026, for three units and July 10, 2026, for one unit, all destined for USS ST LOUIS LCS 19 at FPO AA 34089, under solicitation SPE7L7-26-T-4407.
