Bituminous Coal

Proposals are being solicited under Solicitation SP0600-08-R-0423-0003 for a first-time test shipment of 1,000 NTS of bituminous coal for delivery to Malmstrom AFB, MT. This will be a definite quantity contract. Delivery of this test shipment will be required in December 2008. FOB destination rail and truck offers will be requested. This requirement has revised specifications; from what DESC has solicited in the past. These revised specifications are 24% maximum moisture as received; 1/2 inch bottom screen size; maximum 15% passing through the 1/2 inch screen; and has no sodium oxide requirement. (Former specifications solicited were 20% maximum moisture as received; - inch bottom screen size; with maximum 5% passing through - inch screen; and a sodium oxide maximum of 3.5) Other specifications remain unchanged and are dry volatile matter of 47% maximum, 33% minimum; 12% maximum and 3% minimum dry ash; dry sulfur maximum 1%; minimum dry BTUs 12,000; 2100 minimum ash softening temperature (AST); maximum 5% retained on 1 1/2 inch screen.
