Solicitation # W912WJ27X1CUP
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, is seeking information from small and large businesses for a dredging project in Providence, Rhode Island, under NAICS code 237990. The project is estimated to cost between 80 million and 100 million dollars, with a solicitation expected around March 15, 2027. Construction is slated to begin in September 2027 and span approximately two years, divided into two dredging seasons ending August 31, 2029. The scope involves the mechanical dredging of approximately 5.5 million cubic yards of material using closed clamshell buckets. The work is divided into two primary sequences. First, the contractor must construct a new Confined Aquatic Disposal (CAD) cell at Edgewood Shoals North, which includes digging an access channel and excavating 3.2 million cubic yards of material for disposal at four designated sites. Second, the contractor will perform maintenance dredging of the Providence River and Harbor Federal Navigation Project to a depth of -40 feet MLLW plus two feet of allowable overdepth, removing approximately 2.3 million cubic yards of material to be placed in the newly constructed CAD cell. Strict operational requirements include maintaining a production rate of 300,000 cubic yards every 30 calendar days, working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All activities must adhere to prescribed environmental windows to protect aquatic wildlife, and extensions to these windows are not permitted. Interested firms must demonstrate experience with mechanical dredging at the required production rate and open water placement in New England during winter months. Capabilities packages are due by December 3, 2026.

The Bronson Road Drainage Project undertaken by the Escambia County Engineering Department aims to alleviate stormwater flooding along Bronson Road by constructing an open ditch combined with pipe systems through a 40-foot easement on the Pensacola Christian College property, extending to Trout Bayou. The project was initiated to address drainage issues caused by increased runoff from the Reunion Place subdivision. However, subsequent residential developments along Lillian Highway (SR298), which were not part of the original design, have affected the existing pond and ditch infrastructure, necessitating potential adjustments or additional work to accommodate these changes. The solicitation for this project, titled "Bronson Road Drainage Project," was posted on March 4, 2024, with a response deadline of April 3, 2024. It is managed under NAICS code 237990 and is organized by Escambia Purchasing, a Florida-based agency. Escambia County Engineering Department developed a drainage project to construct an open ditch along Bronson Road with a combination system of pipe and ditch through the PCC (Pensacola Christian College) property easement (40’ width) to the Trout Bayou. The intent of this project was to reduce stormwater flooding along Bronson Rd. from additional water discharged from Reunion Place subdivision. Since the initial design, there has been additional residential building along Lillian Hwy (SR298) which was not accounted for during the initial design and has impacted the existing pond and ditch.
