The contract involves the US Army RDECOM Acquisition Center based in Adelphi, Maryland, intending to negotiate a sole source purchase order with Solas, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The agreement focuses on the construction and delivery of a Faraday Anomalous Dispersion Optical Filter (FADOF) sensor featuring a narrow 5-degree field of view, which will be attached to a zoom lens. Additionally, the vendor is expected to support field trials for this sensor. Beyond this primary task, the vendor will also review conceptual designs for sensors with very wide fields of view and conduct optical simulations to explore these concepts further. This sole source procurement is justified under FAR 6.302-1, indicating that Solas is the only responsible source capable of fulfilling this requirement. The contract was posted on February 1, 2005, under solicitation number USA-SNOTE-050201-002 and involves coordination with the Department of Defense office in Adelphi, Maryland. Points of contact for additional information include Barbara Gerace, who is overseeing communication related to this contract.

RF Sensor Network Design & IntegrationThe contract involves the design and integration of a multi-domain RF sensor network specifically engineered to detect and characterize frequency-agile unmanned aerial systems. This effort requires advanced signal processing capabilities to identify, track, and classify UAS threats in complex electromagnetic environments, with an emphasis on real-time situational awareness and adaptive response. The solution must be scalable, ruggedized for field operations, and capable of seamless operation across multiple domains including ground, air, and potentially space-based platforms. Deployment planning is a critical component, ensuring the network can be rapidly installed and configured in diverse operational terrains with minimal logistical footprint. The system must interoperate with existing military command, control, communications, and intelligence systems to feed actionable data into broader defense architectures. Performance requirements include high sensitivity to low-power signals, resistance to jamming and spoofing, and the ability to function autonomously in contested or denied environments. The work is to be performed in West Fork, Arkansas, under a subcontract arrangement with the Department of Defense, leveraging NAICS code 334511 for electronic component and product manufacturing.
