The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is preparing to issue a Request for Proposals for residential energy systems research in support of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America program. This initiative aims to foster research partnerships across the residential building industry with the objective of significantly improving energy efficiency in both new and existing homes, targeting energy use reductions of 40% to 100%. The research will focus on developing reliable, cost-effective solutions that address this goal through a multidisciplinary, team-based approach. NREL plans to award up to fifteen Task Ordering Agreements, each lasting five years, under which firm, fixed-price task orders with one-year durations will be issued. Initial task orders are expected to receive between $500,000 and $2.5 million in funding for the first year, with potential yearly funding up to $5 million thereafter, contingent on available funds. Each task order award will require minimum price participation of 20%. More detailed information about the proposal scope, evaluation criteria, and submission deadlines will be made available in the forthcoming solicitation, to be posted on NREL’s website in mid-April 2010. Key contacts for the opportunity include the Subcontract Administrator, Vicki A Riddell, and the Group Manager, Christie Johnson.
