The operation includes selective cutting within designated patch cuts, shelterwood areas, and marked trees, with specific instructions for cutting trees down to 1-inch diameter at breast height (DBH) and following precise marking protocols. Access to the site is from State Route 28N, with strict adherence to Best Management Practices (BMPs) for water quality and environmental protection, including installing corduroy crossings, constructing cross-drainage, and ensuring all skid trails meet state standards. Prior to skidding in Area 1, all timber in Area 2 must be harvested and skidded to the landing, with BMPs installed beforehand. The contract emphasizes compliance with state BMPs, limits the use of designated landings unless authorized, and mandates construction of crossings over streams and wetlands using appropriate corduroy materials. Bidders are required to submit their proposals by November 6, 2025, with the contract term extending through October 31, 2027. The project aims to sustainably manage forest resources, ensure environmental protection, and adhere to specific operational guidelines, with no MWBE or veteran-owned business set-asides. The contract is part of a broader effort to responsibly harvest timber while maintaining ecological integrity and compliance with state regulations.
