Bypass Water Supply Pipeline

The City of Weed is implementing the Bypass Water Supply Pipeline project in Siskiyou County, California, to enhance water infrastructure and improve water pressure in the Bel Air area. The scope of work includes the installation of approximately 3,500 feet of 8-inch bypass pipeline along South Weed Boulevard, Boles Street, and School Hill to the Hillside Tank, along with two supervisory valves. Additional infrastructure improvements involve installing water mains on Rippon Way, College Avenue, and South Weed Boulevard, as well as upgrading the School Hill transmission main and the Roseburg Transmission main. The project also includes the installation of new water services, meter boxes, and fire hydrants across several locations, including Main Street, Walnut Street, and Sullivan Avenue. Under a recent project amendment and the Fourth Addendum to the Mitigated Negative Declaration, the City will install approximately 500 feet of 8-inch water main on Terrace Street and replace about 12 water meters and boxes on N. Weed Boulevard. This phase involves abandoning an old 2-inch waterline and reconnecting services to an existing 8-inch main with the addition of individual pressure regulating valves. All improvement plans must be prepared by a licensed engineer. To mitigate environmental impacts, the City will employ best management practices, such as limiting construction to the dry season, using silt fences and straw wattles, and revegetating disturbed sites upon completion.
