The C-5 Slat Actuator Assemblies solicitation seeks qualified vendors to perform repair services on specialized electro-mechanical linear actuators used in the C-5M Galaxy aircraft, including assemblies identified by NSNs such as 1680-01-263-1549 through 1680-01-275-6308, which correspond to various slat jackscrew and actuator components. Repair work is subject to strict engineering source approval by AFLCMC/WLSEAB, as the technical data, proprietary knowledge, and specialized skills required to maintain part integrity are not commercially available to the government. Only approved sources may perform repairs, and any alternate vendor must undergo a formal qualification process per MIL-HDBK-831, demonstrating experience with similar critical aircraft components on military or large commercial transports through detailed documentation including contract history, engineering drawings, test results, and equipment inventories. Contractors must perform at least 80% of the repair work in-house and are required to submit comprehensive overhaul process plans compliant with USAF manuals 9H2-4-184-3 and 9H2-4-189-3, including full traceability of materials, plating, heat treatment, and tooling sources with no waivers permitted. All repaired units must undergo first article testing for new or unqualified sources and must meet ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management standards, with third-party certification accepted in lieu of a full quality plan. Inspections occur at the contractor’s facility, with final acceptance executed at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. Packaging, preservation, and labeling requirements are not explicitly defined beyond the mandatory use of NSNs for identification, though traceability and integrity controls imply adherence to controlled handling practices. There is no disclosed contract value, pricing structure, or delivery schedule; the solicitation is a sources-sought notice with responses due by July 31, 2026, through the FA8538_SLAT_ACTUATOR solicitation number administered by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. No formal contract clauses, payment details, or personnel requirements are included, but qualification hinges entirely on demonstrated technical capability, process control, and prior experience with flight-critical actuator systems.
