Full Description

The C-141 Directorate has a sole source requirement to provide engineering support for a suitable substitute display unit (DU). The source is Honeywell Intl CAGE 017N4. The flat panel C-141 Control Display System (CDS) Display Unit (DU), is the predominate instrument used to display flight information to the pilots. The current DU contains obsolete parts. The fielded DU?s glass is obsolete. This requirement covers the efforts required to evaluate and qualify a suitable substitute DU. These efforts involve engineering support to provide engineering analysis of the proposed unit that is logistically supportable and useable as a suitable substitute for DUs requiring glass repair or replacement; provide a prototype replacement kit; and provide and/or support qualification of the retrofit DU for use in the aircraft. The C-141C will be used as the primary host aircraft for flight certification. The contractor shall provide documentation that reflects the commercial and military specifications under which the substitute DU has been, or could be, qualified for use in aircraft. The substitute DU shall meet, or have met, the same environmental testing requirements as the fielded DU. Primary emphasis shall be on safety and environmental requirements. The contractor shall provide a retrofit upgrade / repair kit that can be used by depot personnel to repair a DU with damaged glass. The contractor shall provide technical data, to include technical order source data and drawing packages or drawing changes, needed to repair and convert an existing DU to the substitute.
