68--CALIBRATING GAS MIX

This contract covers the procurement of 100 packages of calibrating gas mix, each package containing two 10-liter cylinders filled with a nonflammable gas mixture comprising 5% carbon dioxide, 21% oxygen, and the balance nitrogen. The cylinders are identified as compressed gas with hazard class 2.2 and marked accordingly with UN number 1956. All containers must bear specific labeling including the National Stock Number (NSN), manufacturer and cage code, date of manufacture, expiration or retest dates, and contract/lot numbers. Bidders are required to specify their company and part number. The contract mandates compliance with stringent technical and quality requirements as outlined in the DLA Master List, while also requiring approved Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazard warning labels reviewed by qualified personnel prior to award. The material must adhere to Medical Marking Standard No. 1 for proper identification and comply with MIL-STD-129 for marking and hazardous materials shipping protocols. Shelf life is set at 24 months without extension, and all handling must meet DLA packaging guidance including palletization and special marking codes. The contract includes detailed instructions for transportation and acceptance procedures, with inspection and acceptance points at the destination.
