California Science Center Foundation Collections

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has issued a permit to the California Science Center Foundation under Fish and Game Code Section 2081(a) for educational purposes. This permit authorizes the foundation to take steelhead trout during the process of sampling marine species for its permanent collections. The project is designated as exempt under California Code of Regulations Section 15306, as the information collection is determined to cause no serious disturbance to the endangered steelhead trout. The authorized activities involve year-round permanent collection sampling in the nearshore waters of Los Angeles, Orange, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties. Approved sampling methods include the use of midwater trawls, purse seines, beach seines, and surface hook and line. This authorization is effective through December 31, 2028, with Dylan Inskeep serving as the lead agency contact and environmental scientist for the project.
