About the City of Rancho Cordova Located in Sacramento County, California, the City of Rancho Cordova officially incorporated on July 1, 2003, becoming the 478 th City in California. Today, the City is an emerging urban center with a small-town-feel. Founded in 2003, the City of Rancho Cordova has a long-standing commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its residents through comprehensive community planning and engagement, including through the arts. Serving a diverse community of over 87,000 residents and 65,000 workers, Rancho Cordova is recognized as the 29th most diverse city in the United States by Economic Modeling Specialist International, with more than 90 languages spoken in its four school districts. The City of Rancho Cordova operates a council-city manager form of government, with dedicated staff and governance structure that prioritizes inclusive community development and cultural enrichment. Our team includes professionals with expertise in urban planning, public art, community outreach, and cultural programming, all working together to foster a supportive environment for the arts. Our city supports and celebrates its diverse community through a variety of community funding mechanisms, including grants from our Community Enhancement and Investment Fund (CEIF) prioritizing engagement. The fund has provided 10 years of funding through 598 grants totaling $24.9 million dollars to community-based organizations of sales tax initiative. This includes $5.5+ million to visual and performing and over $2 million to the Mills Station Arts and Culture Center (MACC). Additionally, we have launched initiatives to involve groups in the planning and execution of public infrastructure projects to include art. The Zinfandel Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing (ZinBPOC) project exemplifies this. Not only will this project significantly improve connectivity across the city, symbolizing our commitment to inclusive community development, it also integrates art into our transportation infrastructure, ensuring that the arts are an integral part of our community's fabric. To learn more about the City of Rancho Cordova's history, please review the documentary film " Rancho Cordova from the Gold Rush to the Space Race ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwwsGMCwh-I&t=2s) ". About the Zinfandel Drive Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing (ZinBPOC ) and Art Walk The ZinBPOC is a nearly mile-long active-transportation project that will connect neighborhoods, employment centers, businesses, transit, housing, schools, and community destinations on the north and south sides of Highway 50. The project is located near City Hall and includes a landmark tied-arch bridge, landscaped trail, wayfinding, community signage, and permanent public artworks. The project is designed not only as a safe route for pedestrians and bicyclists, but also as a cultural corridor and a place to experience art. The artist-in-residence program will add temporary and experimental creative activity to the Art Walk while the city develops a longer-term framework for public art and artist support through its updated Art Strategic Plan.

Coburn Gore LPOE Art in Architecture Project
Solicitation # 0332CG-AIA
The U.S. General Services Administration is seeking qualified American artists—citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents—to create a permanently installed public artwork for the new Coburn Gore Land Port of Entry in Maine, as part of its Art in Architecture Program. This commission, funded at an estimated $275,000 to $400,000, represents 0.5% of the facility’s construction cost and will support a critical infrastructure project aimed at enhancing border security, improving operational efficiency for Customs and Border Protection, and strengthening cross-border trade coordination with Saint-Augustin-de-Woburn, Quebec. Artists must submit applications by 12:00 PM Eastern Time on August 14, 2026, through the SAM Contract Opportunity portal, and all selected artists must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) at the time of award and maintain active annual renewals throughout the project. Eligible artists may also join the National Artist Registry to be considered for future commissions. Selection will prioritize the artist’s demonstrated experience, past performance on similar public art projects, and the relevance of their creative approach—including media, materials, content, and style—to the project’s context and goals, with price playing a minimal role in evaluation. The selected artist will be expected to collaborate closely with the lead architect, conduct site visits, develop and refine conceptual designs, oversee fabrication, ensure proper installation, provide detailed maintenance plans, and participate in conservation reviews. In alignment with Executive Order 13934, preference will be given to artworks that reflect historically significant Americans, pivotal national events, or foundational American ideals. Only small businesses are eligible for this set-aside contract, and inquiries must be directed to Molly Lewis at GSA with the solicitation number 0332CG-AIA included in the subject line.
