This contract specifies the procurement of respirator air filtering cartridges, identified by NSN 4240-01-342-2857 and part number 7000051851 from 3M Company, with a total quantity of 20 purchase groups, each containing 60 cartridges. The item is classified as a critical application item with a non-extendable shelf life of 60 months and must meet NIOSH approval TC-23C-1062. Mercury and mercury-containing compounds are strictly prohibited unless specifically exempted for functional uses in batteries, lighting, instruments, weapon systems, or approved chemical reagents, with portable devices requiring shock-proof construction and secondary containment in compliance with NAVSEA 5100-003D. Packaging and marking must adhere to MIL-STD-2073-1E and MIL-STD-129, including special shelf-life labeling per paragraph 5.2.1 and Figure 28, while avoiding plastic wrapping, cushioning, or dunnage where possible.
