Chatham Memorial Arena Roof Replacement and Repairs

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is soliciting bids for the roof replacement and remediation of the Chatham Memorial Arena located at 80 Tweedsmuir Avenue West, Chatham, Ontario. The scope of work includes the full replacement of the east side shingle roof, specifically areas AS-3 and AS-4, and the refurbishment of the north and south flat or low slope roof areas. Additional requirements include the replacement of troughs, downspouts, and related hardware, as well as miscellaneous repairs to roof areas A, B, and D. The project is scheduled to begin on October 12, 2026, with a completion date of April 30, 2027. Bids must be submitted electronically via the Municipal Bidding System by September 24, 2026. A mandatory site meeting was held on September 15, 2026, and attendance is a prerequisite for tender acceptance. The award will be based on 100 percent price, provided the bidder is compliant and possesses a satisfactory safety record. Required submissions include a bid security of 20,000 dollars, a Buy Ontario Attestation confirming at least 51 percent Canadian or Ontario content, and a Workplace Safety and Insurance Certificate of Clearance. The contractor is responsible for quality control and must adhere to strict material storage and packaging standards, including WHMIS compliance and specific temperature controls for TPO membranes and sealants. Insurance requirements include 5 million dollars in general liability and 2 million dollars in automobile coverage. Contract security must consist of 50 percent performance and 50 percent labour and materials bonds. Construction review and testing services will be provided by Rimkus.
