The Chickamauga Lock Chamber Replacement project, solicitation W912P5-17-B-0001, is a full and open firm fixed-price construction contract issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District. Located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the project involves inland waterway lock concrete construction with an estimated magnitude between 250 million and 500 million dollars. The scope of work includes the construction of a 110 by 600 foot lock chamber within an existing cofferdam, requiring the excavation of 98,000 cubic yards of rock, the installation of rock anchors, and the construction of monoliths. The contract structure consists of a base bid for a concrete batch plant and thirteen specific options covering various phases such as excavation, shotcrete, foundation preparation, and the installation of miter gates. Key technical documentation provided includes extensive geotechnical data and drilling logs, as-built drawings for the cofferdam and approach walls, and detailed piping and electrical schematics. The project requires strict adherence to environmental compliance standards, including Section 401 Water Quality Certification, and involves coordination with the Tennessee Valley Authority for site access and land use. Performance is subject to a 337 calendar day period, with specific quality control requirements for concrete production and rock anchor installation.
