City of Jackson Water Tank Replacement Project

The City of Jackson Water Tank Replacement Project involves the replacement of the antiquated 1.3-million-gallon Martell Reservoir/Clearwell in Jackson, California, which no longer meets current design standards. The project will install two new 1.3-million-gallon water storage tanks along with new inlet and outlet piping connected to existing fill and distribution lines. While the existing reservoir and water treatment plant equipment will be demolished or salvaged, the existing building will be preserved for non-water system operations, and a new building will be constructed specifically for water system operations near the new tanks. Additional site work includes re-grading the land and access roads to accommodate large vehicles and implementing valve replacements to improve drainage. The project is being managed under CEQA guidelines, with a Mitigated Negative Declaration and Initial Study identifying potential impacts on biological, cultural, paleontological, noise, and tribal cultural resources. Mitigation measures have been established to reduce these impacts to less than significant. The public review period for these environmental documents ran from August 28, 2026, to September 28, 2026.
