College of the Redwoods Student Housing Replacement Project

The Redwoods Community College District plans to replace two outdated residence halls on its northern campus with a modern student housing and dining complex designed to accommodate 246 students and staff. The new facility will offer 67 apartment-style and semi-suites units, replacing the current 166 beds, and will include shared amenities such as study rooms, social lounges, and laundry facilities. Adjacent to the residence hall, a dedicated one-story dining facility spanning approximately 10,000 square feet will serve both residents and the broader campus community, enhancing access to affordable, on-site meals. The project is grounded in improving student retention and success by delivering safe, community-focused, and affordable housing options. Infrastructure upgrades will encompass new driveways with emergency vehicle access, modernized utility connections, enhanced fire safety systems, and sustainable stormwater management through bioretention areas. Landscaping efforts will prioritize the preservation of existing trees while introducing new plantings and outdoor recreational spaces to encourage student interaction and well-being. The initiative, formally titled the College of the Redwoods Student Housing Replacement Project, is forecasted with a posting date of June 16, 2026, under the California State Community Colleges system, with Julia Morrison, Vice President of Administrative Services, serving as the primary point of contact.
