THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT WILL BE AWARDED FROM THIS SYNOPSIS. NO REIMBURSEMENT WILL BE MADE FOR ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PROVIDING INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO THIS SYNOPSIS OR ANY FOLLOW-UP INFORMATION REQUESTS. THE PURPOSE OF THIS SYNOPSIS IS TO NOTIFY INDUSTRY OF THE USAF INTENT FOR CONTRACT ACTION AND POSSIBLE GAIN KNOWLEDGE OF OTHER POTENTIALLY QUALIFIED SOURCES AND THEIR SIZE CLASSIFICATIONS (SMALL BUSINESS, LARGE BUSINESS, ETC.) PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST A COPY OF A SOLICITATION, AS ONE DOES NOT EXIST. The USAF located at Edwards Air Force Base, CA is seeking potential sources capable of providing a 120" Collimator with Focal Length 12" Clear Aperture Off-Axis Parabola and Support Fixture with a 5-Axis Positioning Mount that meet the specifications and requirements. 120" Collimator Requirements: Description: Large aperture, high performance, multi-spectral, electro-optical (EO) collimation capability in the Benefield Anechoic Facility (BAF). Such a collimator in the BAF is needed to support the test and evaluation of present and future EO imaging and non-imaging sensors and systems. The purchase of a 12-inch diameter, 120-inch focal length off-axis parabolic mirror is another key element in achieving the capability. Physical Requirements are as follows: Off-axis parabola, 12 inch diameter in 5-axis mount, material is low CTE glass (Schott Zerodur, Corning ULE/TSG or equivalent), S2 cylinder finish of fine grind, manufactured per MIL-O-13830, mark cylinder with scribe and "Vertex Side" to indicate vertex side of Off-Axis Parabola (OAP). Optical Requirements are as follows: 20 angstroms, 60/40 scratch dig, Figure: 0.05 wave rms @ 633nm, protected aluminum coating per MIL-13508C, Humidity, Adhesion, Moderate Abrasion, CA = 12 inches, 120 inch focal length, distance off-axis 27 - 1 inches. Adequate testing and/or inspections will be performed by the supplier to meet the specified requirements. Any interested parties believing they can meet ALL the specifications and requirements listed above, may submit a statement of capabilities. All information furnished shall be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow the government technical representative to evaluate and determine if it can meet the requirement. This is not a solicitation for competitive quotations.
