Distinguished Fellow for Prevention and Early Intervention in Child Health
Solicitation # GO8650
The Distinguished Fellow for Prevention and Early Intervention in Child Health is a federal grant opportunity provided by the Australian Government's Department of Health, Disability and Ageing. With a total program funding of 5 million dollars over five years starting in 2026-27, the initiative seeks to establish national leadership in medical research focusing on prevalent childhood conditions such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, mental health, and disability. The funding will support a Distinguished Fellow, Postdoctoral Fellows, Research Assistants, PhD Scholarships, and related research costs to enhance the generation and translation of evidence-based health outcomes for children and young people. This program aligns with the National Preventative Health Strategy and the Intergenerational Report 2023 to reduce disease burden and create a more sustainable health system. A primary focus is placed on addressing health inequities among priority populations, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth, those in rural or remote areas, children with disabilities, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and LGBTIQ+ youth. Interested parties must respond by November 18, 2026, to be considered for this investment in Australia's child health capacity.
