The Laboratory requires a commercialization plan from all its prospective licensees before licensing its intellectual property. The plan better enables the Laboratory and the prospective licensee to determine and characterize the business fit between their interests. The commercialization plan also provides information for the Laboratory to use in assessing the prospective licensee's intent and plan to achieve commercial use of the Laboratory Intellectual Property. Finally, the plan provides the Laboratory input on its calculation of value of the intellectual property to both Parties. If a commercialization plan has already been developed, and contains the information requested below, then that plan may be submitted. If no commercialization plan has been developed, then the following worksheet will be of value in defining the commercialization plan. All information provided is considered business proprietary and not available to the public. Accelerators developed for science are already used in a variety of industrial, medical, and security applications. Over 30,000 accelerators touch over $500B/yr in products producing a major impact on our economy. Achieving the full potential of the technology, however, requires a new class of simple, turn-key accelerators that can achieve high average beam power. Exploiting recent advances in Superconducting Radio Frequency (SRF) cavities and RF power sources, combined with innovative solutions for the SRF gun and cryogenic systems, Fermilab has developed a unique design for a compact SRF high-average power electron linac for industrial applications. Capable of >250 kW average power and continuous wave operation, this accelerator produces electron beam energies up to 10 MeV. Small and light enough to mount on mobile, skid-mounted platforms, Fermilab's compact SRF accelerator will enable new market applications, such as in-situ environmental remediation, in-situ crosslinking of materials such as pavement surfaces, safeguards and security applications, and a wide array of more energy-efficient manufacturing solutions. Fermi Research Alliance, LLC (2017). COMPACT SRF BASED ACCELERATOR. 20170094770. Fermi Research Alliance, LLC (FRA) requests that all potential licnsees submit a Commercialization Plan, to be received on or before March 3, 2018. FRA will select the most qualified licensees based on a submitted commercialization plan, detailed technology commercialization strategy, and how the submitted plan meets these general selection criteria: Exclusive or non-exclusive by specific application; Technology commercialization strategy (e.g., in-house, partnering with industry leaders, sublicensing, etc.); Business and marketing plan; Financial resources that will be dedicated to this commercialization project; Expertise relevant to this technology; and Management team/product champion. Fermilab's goal is to select the entities that are most qualified and have the necessary experience and resources to successfully commercialize the technology. To begin the application process, complete the Commercialization Plan worksheet and return it as an e-mail attachment to Aaron G. Sauers, CLP at Fermilab on or before March 3, 2018.
