The contract involves providing comprehensive planning and counsel services to support UC Hastings Law's capital campaign aimed at elevating its national standing and financial stability. Since Dean David L. Faigman’s appointment in 2016, the law school has experienced significant momentum, including improved academic and employment metrics, increased applications, record fundraising, and strategic initiatives like the development of the Academic Village. The campaign seeks to leverage this progress by establishing a meaningful endowment, aligning with the law school’s strategic goals and enhancing its competitive position among peer institutions. The project is structured in three phases—Planning, Quiet, and Public—each with specific objectives such as assessing campaign viability, setting achievable goals, identifying priorities, and preparing for outreach and fundraising efforts. Proposals must demonstrate that the bidding firm possesses relevant experience in higher education or law school campaigns, particularly those involving large gift cultivation and successful endowment building without prior extensive alumni giving cultures. The firm should also show the ability to work collaboratively with UC Hastings staff, develop comprehensive project timelines, and produce detailed reports on work and billing. The scope emphasizes strategic planning, campaign feasibility, goal setting, and organizational assessment to ensure the campaign’s success in strengthening the law school’s resources and reputation. The contract is managed by Adrian Brown, with the response deadline set for April 6, 2021, and the project location in California.
