This contract involves concrete repairs and leveling at the 4200 Surface Road facility in Columbus, Ohio, to address safety and accessibility in accordance with OSHA 1910D and ADA requirements. The project targets eight specific areas totaling approximately 3,520 square feet, where there is notable spalling and deterioration. Tasks include repairing or replacing deteriorated concrete, leveling seven sections at the front entrance to ensure compliance with a maximum ¼ inch height or gap change, and re-repairing or replacing a previously addressed lamp post base. One additional area requires grinding or leveling. The contract stipulates that construction, expansion, and isolation joints must be cleaned and sealed, windows protected, and all debris removed upon completion. Where necessary, a sealer is to be applied after grinding, and special materials—such as flexible caulk or concrete patching compounds—will be used for larger gaps and cracks. Work is to be coordinated to maintain access to the main entrance from 6am to 6pm, Monday through Friday; if this is not possible, work may need to proceed after hours or in segments. Bidders do not need to meet any specific set-aside requirements but must adhere strictly to OSHA and ADA standards during the project. The estimated value of the contract ranges from $50,000 to $150,000.

This request is for concrete repairs and leveling needed per OSHA 1910D and ADA requirements. Please review the specification document to view necessary details and images related to the scope of work. The bidding specifications are as follows:  Spalling and deterioration of concrete in eight (8) areas as noted below to be repaired.  Some areas will require removal and replacement, while others may allow for patching. The approximate square footage is approximately 3,520 sq.ft. where repairs need to be made. One (1) of the eight (8) concrete sections is a lamp post base that has previously been repaired that needs to be re-repaired or demolished and replaced.
Seven (7) concrete sections located in the front entrance of 4200 Surface Road facility in solid red outline must be leveled to meet OSHA 1910D and ADA requirements of ¼” maximum height change (vertical) and gap (horizontal) on walking surfaces. One (1) concrete section outlined in blue may be ground or leveled.

Clean out and seal all construction, expansion, and isolation joints.

Access to the main entrance of the facility must be maintained from 6am – 6pm Monday through Friday. If access to the facility can be maintained, the work can be completed in segments; however, if facility access cannot be maintained, work will need to take place after hours.

Windows must be protected from damage. All debris must be cleaned up. If ground, a sealer needs to be applied.

To fill gaps larger than ¼” between concrete slabs, use a flexible, non-sagging caulk designed specifically for expansion joints, which allows the concrete to move while preventing water and weeds from entering the gap; for larger cracks or voids,  a concrete patching compound or a sand-cement slurry to fill the space depending on the size and location of the gap.
