The applicant is proposing to expand the herd size and footprint of an existing dairy located at 3601 Lacey Blvd., Hanford, Assessor’s Parcel Number 016-090-012. The proposal includes a herd expansion to increase the previously permitted herd size by 1,500 head of cattle (500 head of milk cows and 1,000 head of dry cows) bringing the total herd size to 8,000 head (10,920 animal units) at the Dixie Creek Ranch Dairy. The dairy has acquired additional land adjacent to the facility to increase the capacity for land application. Additionally, the proposal includes the construction of two (2) new Saudi-style barns (approximately 1,200 ft. by 105 ft. for 127,000 sq. ft. each), and a new feed center and manure drying area on the east side of the dairy facility. The feed center bays will be 80,000 sq. ft. on 5 acres, and the new manure drying area will be located on 13 acres. Operation activities are anticipated to remain essentially unchanged from the existing operation with only a slight increase in operational truck trips.
