Trade Agreement: Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) Tendering Procedures: All interested suppliers may submit a bid Competitive Procurement Strategy: Lowest/Lower Bid Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement: No Nature of Requirements:
PROJECT IDENTIFICATION: EP788-230631- Confederation Building PRV and Iso Valve Replacement 229 Wellington St, Ottawa, Ontario
Project description: The Pressure Reduction Valves (PRV) and the Isolation Valves on the main header in room SB-04 at the Confederation Building have reached the end of their useful lives. The majority of the steam heating and chilled water supply piping in the building was replaced during 1972 major building renovations and 1975 air conditioning upgrades respectively. Sections of the main high pressure and low pressure steam supply and condensate return lines in the sub-basement appear to have been refurbished recently in approximately 2010 during an east tunnel project, including the installation of new PRV valves. This project deals with those items which were not replaced in 2010. High pressure steam at 175 psi is supplied from the Cliff Street CHCP plant via insulated steel piping to Mechanical Room SB4 in the Sub-basement where the supply is converted single stage to medium pressure steam at 50 psi and two stage to low pressure steam at 8 psi via Fisher pressure reducing valves with monitor panels. Strategic Context: This project contributes to the continuous operation of the Confederation Building until its rehabilitation and contributes to reducing downtime in parliamentary assets. Work is to be completed within 26 Weeks after contract award.
