Consultancy for Community, Street and Working Children Intervention Services

The Street and Working Children Community Intervention Programme, led by the Child Protection and Family Services Agency of the Government of Jamaica, aims to enhance the safety, well-being, and development of children living and working on the streets by reinforcing national and community-based child protection systems. The initiative focuses on building the capacity of the social service workforce and expanding access to critical social and financial support services for vulnerable children and their families. Phase I of the pilot program, which began in October 2024, is being implemented in eight communities across six parishes, laying the groundwork for broader scalability and systemic impact. This phase serves as a foundation for data-driven design and community engagement strategies that will guide future expansion. Phase II will extend the intervention to an additional ten communities selected by the Street and Working Children Taskforce, with two communities each from Clarendon, St. James, St. Catherine, St. Ann, and Kingston and St. Andrew. These locations were strategically chosen to address geographic disparities and target areas with high concentrations of street-connected children. A consultancy solicitation has been issued under reference number 2238/57, with a response deadline of August 7, 2026, inviting qualified professionals to support the delivery of community-based services. The program underscores a national commitment to institutionalizing protective frameworks and ensuring sustainable, locally responsive care systems for the most at-risk children in Jamaica.
