The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is conducting market research to identify providers capable of supplying specialized containment enclosures for the study of Bordetella pertussis disease. The requirement includes one architecturally renovated enclosure subdivided into two separate spaces and two larger freestanding containment environments. All units must be new, constructed from clear hospital-grade vinyl with tubular aluminum frames, and feature interchangeable parts compatible with existing bioBubble systems. Key technical specifications include negative pressure capabilities, HEPA filtered exhaust, specific air change rates, and noise levels not exceeding 65dB. The scope of work encompasses the delivery and installation of the subdivided unit to Bethesda, Maryland, and the two larger units to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Interested firms must provide detailed business information and descriptive literature demonstrating that their products meet or exceed the stated specifications by June 2, 2011. This effort is a sources-sought notice and not a formal solicitation; however, the government indicates an intent to enter into a sole source contract with bioBubble, Inc. if no acceptable alternative responses are received.
