AI Contract Overview
This contract involves the procurement of spares for a flight-critical item, specifically NIIN 016017099, with a focus on ensuring source approval by the designated design control activity to maintain part quality. Only previously approved sources, such as Raytheon Company, are authorized to supply these parts, as they possess unique design capabilities, engineering expertise, and technical data essential for manufacturing or repair that are not economically available to the Government. New sources seeking approval must submit detailed technical data and undergo qualification procedures approved by the relevant Government engineering authority, with the approval process typically not delaying contract award due to urgent fleet support needs. The solicitation emphasizes strict compliance with source approval requirements, and offers are to include all necessary documentation to be considered. The procurement is conducted under a sole-source authority (FAR 6.302-1), and the Government intends to negotiate directly with Raytheon, although responsible parties may express interest and capability within the specified response period. The contract is part of a broader effort to acquire standardized military and federal specifications, with relevant documents obtainable through the DOD Single Stock Point or ASSIST-Online. The solicitation also clarifies that the market research indicates the Government is not applying FAR Part 12 policies for this acquisition but remains open to commercial item proposals if capable of satisfying the requirements. The response deadline is August 12, 2025, and additional information can be obtained from the designated contracting officer via email or through the provided online link.
