Crushing

The Wood County Highway Department is soliciting sealed bids for the drilling, blasting, crushing, stockpiling, sampling, and testing of approximately 30,000 tons of 3/4 inch Base Aggregate Dense. The work will be performed at the Smith Pit Quarry located at 7258 CTH B in Pittsville, Wisconsin. The selected contractor must provide all necessary labor and machinery to pump water from the quarry, transport rock to the crusher, and maintain a calibrated motion belt scale on-site to calculate daily tonnage. All produced material must be stockpiled and available for county use by May 31, 2027. Bids must be submitted by 10:00 AM CST on November 3, 2026, either through Bid Express or via sealed delivery to the Highway Commissioner's Office in Wisconsin Rapids. Proposals must utilize the official Highway Commission form and include the General Bidding Procedure and Specifications to be considered. The project requires strict adherence to the 2025 Wisconsin DOL Standard Specifications for Highway and Structure Construction and the Wisconsin DOL Construction and Materials Manual. Additionally, the contractor must provide a written quality control plan two weeks prior to production and employ personnel certified under the Highway Technician Certification Program for all sampling and testing activities.
