The project involves emergency in-kind replacement of a section of culvert located on an ephemeral tributary drainage to Alpine Creek along Pescadero Creek Road. The severely deteriorated section of 18-inch diameter corrugated metal pipe (CMP) was discovered during excavation of a water utility trench for the CSA 7 Water System Distribution Pipeline Improvements Project and must be repaired immediately. The emergency work involves replacement of a 5-foot section of the culvert including trench excavation, removal of the damaged section of pipe, installation of the replacement section with standard coupling bands, structural backfill and compaction, and roadway restoration. Work will be conducted according to conservation measures and best management practices detailed in the County of San Mateo Routine Maintenance Program Manual (2025) and the San Mateo Countywide Water Pollution Prevention Program Construction BMPs (2014).
