The Office of Purchasing and Contract intends to award a sole source purchase order to Cepheid for the procurement of PCR testing reagent kits used on the GeneX instrument currently employed in the Clinical Center's patient support services in Bethesda, Maryland. The acquisition will be processed as a simplified acquisition under the North American Industry Classification System code 424210, with an emphasis on ensuring continuity and compatibility with current laboratory operations. This notice serves to identify any potential sources that could fulfill the requirement, though it explicitly states that it is not a request for competitive proposals and that no competition will be initiated unless deemed necessary by the government. Interested parties must submit responses by June 30, 2016, with all inquiries directed to Priscilla Abalos via email. The government disclaims responsibility for any costs incurred in the preparation of responses. The sole source approach is based on the unique supplier status of Cepheid and the specialized nature of the reagents necessary for the GeneX instrument, ensuring a streamlined procurement process aimed at maintaining patient care standards and ongoing diagnostic research.
