CUP 2026-0002 (DEV2026-0005) – ACTIV8 ATHLETIC CLUB

Project CUP 2026-0002 (DEV2026-0005) involves a request for a Minor Conditional Use Permit from the City of Carlsbad to convert an existing warehouse and office space into the Activ8 Athletic Club. The facility will operate as a personal training facility and recovery center, occupying an approximate 16,000-square-foot suite within a larger 25,295-square-foot industrial building located at 2080 Las Palmas Dr, Suite 102, Carlsbad, California. The subject site is situated within the Planned Industrial (P-M) Zone and carries a General Plan Land Use designation of Planned Industrial (PI). The scope of work is limited to interior renovations, including the installation of new flooring and modifications required to meet Fire and Building code requirements. Due to the nature of these interior improvements and the lack of use expansion, the project has been granted a Categorical Exemption under CEQA Section 15301(a) for Existing Facilities. This exemption is contingent upon the project not involving grading or clearing activities that affect sensitive biological habitats, archaeological resources, or hazardous materials. The project is being coordinated through the City of Carlsbad Planning Division, with Tate Hillmann serving as the Assistant Planner and Jana Moreno acting as the Project Manager.
