The United States Mint (USM) has a requirement for specific alloy strip material to be used for stamping blanks for circulating, un-circulating and proof coins, in 5, 10, 25, 50 and $1 denominations. Blanking will be performed in the Philadelphia (PHL), PA and Denver (DEN), Mints. Circulating and non-circulating coins will be minted in the PHL and DEN Mints. Proof coins will be minted in the San Francisco Mint. There are three alloy configurations: cupro- nickel (5), cupro-nickel clad (10/25/50) and nickel-manganese-brass clad ($1). All strip material shall be delivered in accordance with the requirements, terms, conditions, and specifications set forth herein. All delivered coinage strip material must allow the USM to produce coins that meet an overriding coinability standard such that any coil defect will not be allowed to detract from the design or the integrity of the struck coin. Total quantities required are in the range of 2-4,000,000 lbs per month from all sources. The expected award will be for multiple Indefinite Quantity, Indefinite Delivery (IDIQ) contracts with a minimum 5 year period. Allocation of quantities as a percentage of the total requirement is subject to negotiation contingent on capability and pricing as determined to be in the government's best interest. A draft statement of work is provided with this notice for reference. The specifications therin are subject to revision and a final copy will be provided upon issuance of the solicitation. All interested parties are requested to review the statement of work for suitability and encouraged to contact the United States Mint with any questions.
