The National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) is seeking a small business to develop an electronic directory of animal model resources along with a web-based portal for accessing this information. The contract, designated under NAICS code 541512 and set aside entirely for small businesses, involves a comprehensive series of tasks. The scope also extends to developing a project website, establishing relevant standards and ontologies, promoting the resource through tutorials and community involvement, and designing a portal that effectively integrates data, models, and related knowledge. Further responsibilities encompass creating a blueprint for integrating the electronic directory with existing knowledge bases, exploring new methods for data and knowledge integration, and identifying a tracking system to manage various pathways of data processing. The government plans to award a cost-reimbursement type contract for a two-year period, with the anticipated award date around September 30, 2008. This solicitation is not yet a Request for Proposals but will be formally released as RFP NHLBI-RR-08-18 by late November 2007, available online through NIH and FedBizOpps websites.
