Full Description

The U.S. Geological Survey, Pacific Island Ecosystems Research Center (PIERC), has a requirement for Enhanced IP Data Service (25 Mbps) at two USGS locations (Honolulu, Hawaii and Kihei, Hawaii). The period of performance for these services will be a base period of six (6) months and one (1) six month option period. The Government intends to negotiate on a non-competitive basis with Hawaiian Telcom, Inc. of Honolulu Hawaii, in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b), only one source reasonably available. Hawaiian Telcom, Inc. is the only interisland local exchange carrier (LEC) of voice and network services. They are the only carrier to have the infrastructure (including copper and fiber optic cabling) to USGS locations at HVO and the PIERC Field Office on the Big Island. Hawaiian Telcom, Inc. is the only carrier to provide MPLS services over a fault tolerant interisland network. They are the only carrier to provide Ethernet based vLAN services over an MPLS network.
