The Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO) intends to increase the not-to-exceed ceiling amount and extend the current terms and conditions of the contract by one additional option year option against Contract No. DCA200-01-D-5006, Air Defense Communication Services (ADCS). The contractor is General Dynamics Network Systems Inc., located in Needham MA. The contract was competitively awarded on 6 July 2001 with a base period through 30 June 2002 and four one-year option periods. It provides management, maintenance and repair and logistics support of the existing highly sophisticated and critical communications system and subsystems used in support of NORAD/NORTHCOM, including system improvements, upgrades and modifications that require engineering knowledge and experience. The purpose is to increase the not-to-exceed ceiling amount and to extend the current terms and conditions of the contract by one additional contract option year, due to simultaneous efforts to prepare an acquisition package, to accommodate the current and anticipated efforts associated with processing routine requirements, and the recent priority on sector transformation. The increased ceiling amount will include an increased amount for continuity of operations and to maintain standardization and interoperability throughout all of the United States. As a result of the continued support, the contract not-to-exceed funding ceiling will be increased from $98,564,000 to $109,556,793.81 an increase of $11,002,793.81. The statutory authority for only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). This notice of intent is not a request for proposal. See Numbered Note 22.
