Dental Hygienist Services FMC Rochester

The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Field Acquisition Office in Grand Prairie, Texas intends to make award for the provision of Dental Hygienist services on behalf of the Federal Medical Center, Rochester, Minnesota. Faith-based and Community-based organizations can submit offers/bids/quotations equally with other organizations for contracts for which they are eligible. The anticipated date of award will be approximately August 12, 2009. The contract performance period is anticipated to consist of a base year from effective date of award through 12 months from effective date of award, and will include four, 12-month option years for renewal. The contractor will be responsible for performing the following tasks: Records patient's dental/medical history; performs dental prophylaxis; performs deep scaling, root planing; takes radiographs; completes preliminary interpretation of radiographs; provides oral health education; performs screening exam; places periodontal dressing; places topical anesthetic; performs anesthetic injections; places topical fluoride application; performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation; places transitional restorations; delivers post-op hemorrhage care; and completes other duties as assigned by the Dental Officer that are within the Dental Hygienist scope of practice. The contractor will be familiar with OSHA's standards on management of Bloodborne Pathogens. The contractor will also be expected to handle telephone communication in the dental clinic, make appropriate entries in the dental record, appointment book for prophylaxes, type reports and correspondence, and other general duties recognized as routine in a dental clinic. A session will equal one (1) hour. The facility is expected to require an average of 20-sessions per week, normally four (4), one-hour sessions per day, Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays, normally between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with a thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch period, if applicable.
