The University of Western Ontario is inviting proposals through an open tender process for the design, fabrication, and installation of a variable temperature implantation stage for its Tandetron accelerator beamliner. This equipment will be installed in the Western Science Center Building and will support advanced hydrogen implantation research, crucial for studying hydrogen-promoted degradation across various fields including nuclear energy, biomedical implants, and semiconductor materials. The new stage will be accessible to a broad range of users within the Western Advanced Materials Foundry and will enable diverse applications such as fabricating hydrogen calibration standards, doping semiconductor materials, developing quantum dot systems, creating novel metamaterials, fabricating photovoltaic devices, and conducting irradiation studies on advanced alloys and particles. The total budget for this procurement is estimated at CAD 400,000 plus HST, with submissions required by June 30, 2026, via an online portal. Proponents must comply with comprehensive submission requirements including detailed technical, sustainability, and value-added criteria, along with mandatory forms and supporting documentation. The procurement is governed by both the Canadian Free Trade Agreement and the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement, and while prequalification is not required, negotiations may occur post-evaluation. Delivery is expected by December 2026, with contract duration tied to equipment acceptance and fulfillment of contractual obligations. Complete and current tender documents are available online, and suppliers are encouraged to review them closely for detailed terms and conditions.

Procuring Entity: University of Western Ontario (Western) Procurement Services 1151 Richmond Street London, Ontario, Canada, N6A 3K7 Contact: Scott Roth sroth6@uwo.ca Procurement Method: Open tender whereby all interested Suppliers may submit a Proposal. Description: The RFP is an invitation to submit offers for the Design, Fabrication, and Installation of Variable Temperature Implantation Stage for Tandetron Accelerator Beamliner, as further described herein. Our research programs are focused on developing an understanding of hydrogen-promoted degradation mechanisms for multiple application areas (nuclear energy, other energy, and biomedical implant materials). This will be achieved through state-of-the-art infrastructure, including a hydrogen implantation process using a Tandetron ion accelerator, which requires accurate implantation to generate hydrogen standards. The new variable temperature implantation stage will be installed in the Western Science Center Building and will be available to all users of the Western Advanced Materials Foundry (WAMF), including the PIs on this CFI Innovation Fund grant and other users from Western and beyond. The stage will be used for a variety of research projects, including, but not limited to: fabricating hydrogen calibration standards that can be used for various metrology applications (Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry, Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis). doping semiconductor materials and fabricating solid-state quantum dot systems in solid materials and thin film structures. new metamaterials and nanophotonic structures designed to enhance both brightness and directivity of quantum emitters fabricating photovoltaic devices irradiation of nickel superalloys, steel alloys, silicon carbide and novel TRISO particles. Refer to the RFP document for further information. Budget: The estimated total net price budget is CAD$400,000 plus HST.
