The Osceola County Board of County Commissioners Transportation and Transit department issued solicitation PS-26-15716-PC to select a single FDOT pre-qualified firm to provide professional design services for the Canoe Creek Road Widening Project. The project involves transforming a 1.88-mile stretch of Canoe Creek Road from a rural two-lane roadway into a divided urban four-lane roadway between Deer Run Road and Pine Tree Drive. The scope of work includes the design of four signalized intersections, street lighting, a closed drainage system with ponds, and side street improvements, all based on recommendations from a completed PD&E Study. The selected consultant must be prequalified in FDOT Work Group 3.2 for Major Highway Design and is responsible for delivering a complete set of construction contract documents. The solicitation was posted on February 22, 2026, with proposals due by March 24, 2026. Project documentation indicates a construction estimate of approximately 64.3 million dollars and includes specific design requirements for the Gator Bay Slough box culvert and the Friars Cove Lane signal. While several firms submitted bids by the deadline, a memorandum dated July 1, 2026, placed the solicitation on hold. This pause is intended to allow the county to evaluate fiscal impacts related to proposed property tax measures on the November 2026 ballot.
