Detailed Design Services for the Secondary Raw Water Intake

The City of Cornwall is seeking proposals from qualified consulting engineering firms to undertake the detailed engineering design of a Secondary Raw Water Intake system. This project involves constructing a new water intake extending approximately 260 meters from the north bank of the Cornwall Canal into the north channel of the St. Lawrence River, utilizing trenchless technology to navigate beneath the canal. The intake structure will be positioned at a depth of about 7.9 meters. Additionally, the work includes designing a new low lift pumping station that will connect the intake to the Cornwall Water Process Plant, along with the installation of approximately 680 meters of transmission pipeline routed along King Street, Young Street, and Second Street West. The selected firm will be responsible for a comprehensive range of services including detailed investigations, engineering design for the intake, pumping station, piping, and transmission pipeline, as well as preparing design reports and cost estimates. They will collaborate with City-retained consultants, manage tendering processes, provide construction administration and supervision, and offer post-construction support.
