Disposal of the MV Holiday Island

The Department of Transport Canada has a requirement to dispose of, through Ship Breaking, the M/V Holiday Island. The Contractor will be required to prepare the vessel for transfer, transfer the vessel to the Approved Site and subsequently break (dismantle and dispose or recycle) the vessel in an efficient and environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Statement of Work.
The Contractor will have until November 30, 2022, to remove the vessel from her berth at the Transport Canada owned ferry terminal at Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island, and until February 28, 2024 to complete the Work.
The Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal applies to this requirement.
There is a mandatory vessel viewing associated with this requirement. The viewing will held October 5, 2022 at the Transport Canada owned ferry terminal at Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island.See Part 2, article 2.5 for additional information.
