DLA Troop Support is implementing a pilot program focused on shade tolerances for eight specific Army cloth items, including various garments such as the Army Shirt Gray, Army Beret, All Weather Coat, and Desert Sand T-Shirt, among others. The program requires the prime contractor and associated mills to utilize numerical shade tolerance readings, which are made available online and must be regularly monitored for updates. These readings serve as informational guidelines, while all official shade testing is carried out using a visual evaluation method by a government lab. In cases of discrepancies, the visual evaluation results prevail. The contract, identified by solicitation number SPM1C1-13-D-TECH, falls under NAICS code 313210, which pertains to textile mill manufacturing. The program emphasizes the importance of strict adherence to visual shade assessments for quality control in fabric colors, and contractors are responsible for accessing the provided web resources for the latest tolerance standards. Pat Alldridge is the primary point of contact for this initiative, offering support and information regarding the pilot program.
