Full Description

As a result of lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified the need to expand expertise in infection prevention, control, and outbreak response. Through the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity Strengthening Healthcare-Associated Infections/Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Programs cooperative agreement, the CDC has provided funding to state HAI/AR programs to build expertise and knowledge in IPC at the state and local level. IPC practices aim to reduce the spread of infection from one person to another in healthcare settings and include Standard Precautions for all patient care (e.g., handwashing, personal protective equipment, cleaning and disinfection, safe injection practices) and transmission-based precautions for patients with known or suspected infections. The ODH Bureau of Infectious Diseases HAI/AR Program is in search of contractors to provide APIC’s EPI® Intensive Certificate Program, which provides foundational IPC training to one representative from each of Ohio's 111 local health departments (LHDs), as well as ODH HAI/AR program staff to expand statewide IPC capacity.
