Full Description

The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) Philadelphia, intends to enter into negotiations, on a sole source basis, with Olympus NDT Inc., 48 Woerd Avenue, Waltham, MA 02453, to procure four (4) Eddy Current Array (ECA) probes. The probes are to be used with NSWCCD owned Olympus Omni Scan MX ECA module non-destructive testing equipment and to support development work for use of ECA in lieu of liquid penetrant on cracking aluminum deck plating for Navy surface ships. Olympus NDT Inc., is a GSA contract vendor - Contract No. GS-07F-5933R. Based on market research, these probes are only available through Olympus NDT Inc., which is the one and only source that can meet the Government's requirements and the proposed action cannot be processed on the basis of full and open competition. The Government, therefore, intends to solicit and negotiate this requirement under the authority of 10 USC 2304 (c) (1), FAR 6.302-1. A Firm Fixed Price contract is anticipated. The applicable NAICS Code for this requirement is 334519. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any and all responses must be received within 15 days of this synopsis notice. A determination by the Government not to open this requirement to competition based on the responses received to this synopsis is solely within the discretion of the Government.
