Full Description
The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has awarded $42,871,948 firm-fixed-price order(N0001926F1037) against a basic ordering agreement (N0001926G1008) to General Atomics, San Diego, California. This contract is for the procurement of Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) Sustainment Spares, in support of In-Service Ford Class Carriers to maintain and sustain system availability objectives. This contract will provide the avenue for the Contractor to manufacture, build, test and deliver spares in support of In-Service Ford Class Carriers.The work is expected to be completed in April 2034.
GA is the original designer, developer and manufacturer of the EMALS & AAG system. GA is the sole designer and developer of the EMALS & AAG systems. GA is the only company with technical expertise, technical data and in-depth knowledge of both systems to provide the supplies and services that are critical to support and satisfy the USN's requirements.
The awarded contract is for the supplies or services for which the Government solicited and negotiated with only one source under the authority of Title 10, U.S. Code § 3204(a)(1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, 'Only One Responsible Source', and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
