The Naval Supply Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk intends to award a sole source, Firm Fixed Price contract for the procurement of ML 6697A Electron Tubes to support the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic at Detachment Cutler, Maine. These general purpose triodes provide critical final power amplification for the AN/FRT-31 VLF transmitter. Because Communications and Power Industries is the only manufacturer capable of providing these original replacement parts without necessitating a system configuration change, the acquisition is justified as a sole source under statutory authority 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). The requirement consists of 10 tubes annually for a total of 30 tubes over three years, delivered in batches of five. The contract structure includes one six-month base period followed by five six-month option periods.
