The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) requires the services of a Contractor to supply and install Electronic Monitoring equipment on participating vessels for field testing purposes. In 2022, the Gulf Conservation and Protection (C&P) team conducted a field study with modern camera technology - 2022 Tuna Camera EMS Pilot Project. The purpose of the study was to field test modern camera equipment as a replacement to the dated camera technology that is used in the fishery today. For the Electronic Monitoring model to be considered a viable option for fleet-wide implementation, there is a need to identify a system that is less labor intensive to DFO and sustainable for fleet-wide implementation. Ultimately, the purpose of having camera equipment deployed in this fishery is to monitor compliance for the Fisheries Act and applicable Regulations. DFO has identified a requirement to have two (2) systems deployed on two (2) separate vessels during each period. The periods are during the spring/summer fisheries and the mid-summer/early fall fisheries. • Period 1 – July 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024 • Period 2 – July 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025 There is no security requirement applicable to the Contract.
